## **How to Edit this Wiki**
Updating wiki is as simple as writing in your traditional lab journals! When you are browsing the page you would like to edit, simply click on the `Edit` button. Then, simply add or modify the text as you see fit. To format your text, you can use some easy [**Markdown**](https://git.lumc.nl/help/markdown/markdown.md) syntax. For your convenience, some simple and more frequently used syntaxes are described below.
#### **Headers**
You can have different layers of headings. You specify a text as heading by simply adding `#` symbol at the beginning of the appropriate line. The number of `#` symbols you add defines the level you would like to use for your heading.
> **Examples:**<br># H1<br>## H2<br>### H3
#### **Emphasis**
Using emphasis, a.k.a. *italic* and **bold**, is very helpful to make your text clearer. This can be mainly done by adding `*` symbol before and after the section that you would like to emphasize. Using one asterisk will make the word/sentence italic whereas two asterisks will make the emphasized section bold!
> **Examples:**<br>`*wiki*` will result in *wiki* whereas `**wiki**` will lead to **wiki**. You can also use `**_wiki_**` for the combination: **_wiki_**
#### **Lists**
Lists are simply made by the use of numbers (i.e., 1. 2. 3. ...) or `*`, `-` or `+` symbols. For indentions, simply add a single space at the beginning of the line. For examples, please visit this [Link](https://git.lumc.nl/help/markdown/markdown.md#lists).
#### **Links**
The most convenient way to create links is with the use of `[]` and `()` symbols. The `[]` symbols need to harbor the text you would like to create a link for. The actual link to another page in the wiki or external urls can be provided between `()`.
> **Example:**<br>By typing `[Wiki homepage](home)`, I create a link to the homepage of this wiki: [Wiki homepage](home). A link to an external webpage can be created just as easily by putting the complete url between the parenthesis: `[LUMC website](www.lmc.nl)` will create [LUMC website](www.lmc.nl).
#### **Quotes/Notes**
To introduce a quote or note section, simply add the `>` symbol at the beginning of your text followed by a single space. All examples in this document are generated using this feature: the first line is created using `> **Examples:**`.
#### **Line Breaks**
Simply hit on the `Enter` button will suffice for introducing line breaks. However, sometimes this does not work. So, in these cases you can simply type `<br>` at the exact position you would like to introduce a line break.
#### **Tables**
Tables are created by the use of `|` symbol. You can specify your preference for adjusting the text in each column by the use of `:`. Please have a look at the following [Link](https://git.lumc.nl/help/markdown/markdown.md#tables) for detailed explanation of how to create a table.

#### **Task Lists**
You can add task lists to issues, points to discuss and todo lists. To create a task list, add a specially-formatted Markdown list. For more information click on [Task Lists](https://git.lumc.nl/help/markdown/markdown.md#task-lists) to the main help.
> **Example:**<br>Simply used either `- [ ]` or `- [x]` at the beginning of each task in your list. The rest of the instructions are similar to those of normal lists. |
